• Suresh and Ambika first worked together in Vellai Roja (1983) because director A. Jagannathan specifically wanted a fresh pair. He cast them both as newcomers — neither had a major hit before — and the gamble paid off big.
• In Neethikku Oru Penn (1984), Ambika’s character was the strong-willed one who drove the plot, while Suresh played the reactive romantic lead. She set the emotional pace in every scene; he followed her cues, which made their arguments feel real and their reconciliations earned.
