• Ravi Prakash was still a debutant assistant director when G. V. Prakash Kumar signed him to direct 'Thalaivaa' (2013). The producer was nervous handing a ₹40-crore Vijay film to a first-timer, but G. V. Prakash insisted — he had seen Ravi's short film and trusted his visual sense over experience.
• On 'Pencil' (2016), G. V. Prakash played a deaf-mute character. Ravi Prakash built the entire script around his actor's inability to speak — every emotional beat had to land through G. V.'s eyes and body language. The director later said he deliberately wrote zero dialogues for the lead to force a performance that nobody expected from a composer-actor.
• The failure of 'Watchman' (2019) — which still became a hit at the box office despite a 4.8 rating — directly led to Ravi Prakash abandoning his usual mass-hero formula. He pivoted to the smaller, darker 'Ayngaran' (2022) specifically because G. V. Prakash told him: 'Let's make something we'd watch, not something we think they want.' That film later got a cult following on OTT.
• Ravi Prakash and G. V. Prakash Kumar have a standing rule: no phone calls after 10 PM during a shoot. The director breaks it every time. G. V. once told a journalist that Ravi calls him at 1 AM to discuss a single shot's lighting, and he always picks up because 'he's the only director who cares that much about my face.'
