T. P. Gajendran was a Tamil cinema actor and film director who appeared in over 100 films and directed more than 15 feature films. He is known for his supporting roles in films such as Velayudham (2011), Pencil (2016), and Panni Kutty (2022), and directed a series of low-budget comedy-dramas including Budget Padmanabhan (2000), Middle Class Madhavan (2001), and Banda Paramasivam (2003), mostly starring Prabhu. He came from a film family — his mother T. P. Muthulakshmi was an established actress in Tamil cinema — and earlier worked as an assistant to director Visu before launching his own career. He also served as president of the Cinema Technicians Association (CTA) from 2015, and passed away on 5 February 2023.
