• Venkat Prabhu cast Nithin Sathya in Chennai 600028 because he needed a real cricketer for the role. Nithin had played for Tamil Nadu's under-19 team. That authenticity became the film's secret weapon.
• On the sets of Chennai 600028, Venkat let Nithin choreograph all the cricket action. Nithin designed the match sequences to look like actual local tournaments, not movie-style hero shots. That grounded feel made the film a sleeper hit.
