• Venkat Prabhu was a struggling actor when he met S. P. B. Charan at a recording studio. Charan was looking for a fresh face to direct his first production. He handed Venkat Prabhu the script for Unnai Charanadaindhen (2003) on the spot. That handover launched Venkat Prabhu's directing career.
• On the sets of Saroja (2008), Venkat Prabhu would write dialogues in the morning and hand them to Charan. Charan would then rewrite his own lines in Tamil slang on set. That back-and-forth gave the film its loose, natural comedy — something neither could have pulled off alone.
• Their third film Saroja (2008) directly inspired the Telugu road-trip comedy genre. A year later, director Maruthi admitted in an interview that his film Ee Rojullo (2012) was heavily influenced by Saroja's group-dynamic template. That ripple started with Venkat Prabhu and Charan's script sessions.
• Venkat Prabhu and Charan have a standing rule: no phone calls after 10 PM unless someone is dying. Charan once broke it at 11 PM to tell Venkat Prabhu he'd found the perfect location for Vizhithiru (2017). Venkat Prabhu still jokes that Charan owes him a night's sleep.
• Venkat Prabhu once said in a 2017 interview: 'Charan is the only producer who lets me shoot a scene twice — once for the script, once for the fun. The fun version is what stays in the film.'
