Trivia

  • The film is a remake of the 1994 Tamil movie 'Sathi Leelavathi', which itself was inspired by the 1992 Hollywood film 'The Servant of Two Masters'.
  • This was the first film where actors Govinda and Karisma Kapoor were paired together, despite both being major stars in the 1990s.
  • The song 'Sona Kitna Sona Hai' was filmed at the famous Rambagh Palace in Jaipur, a former royal residence turned luxury hotel.
  • Director David Dhawan and actor Govinda had a major professional disagreement during filming, which reportedly led to a temporary rift in their frequent collaboration.
  • The character name 'Meena' was also the real-life name of actress Karisma Kapoor's mother and veteran actress, Meena Kumari.
  • The film's comic villain, played by Satish Kaushik, was originally written as a more serious character but was changed during script readings.
  • Despite mixed reviews, the film was a major box office success, becoming one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of 1997.
