• David Dhawan didn't discover Karisma — she was already a star after 'Raja Hindustani'. But he bet his entire 1994 slate on her, casting her in three films that year. 'Andaz' was their first, but it flopped. He didn't care. He kept casting her.
• Karisma was the one who set the comic timing on set. David would give her a line, and she'd add a pause, a shrug, or a double-take that made the scene land. He later said she taught him how to write comedy for women.
• Their 1997 film 'Judwaa' — where Karisma played the double role opposite Salman Khan — directly inspired the 2017 remake starring Varun Dhawan. David's own son stepped into the role his father had originally directed for Karisma.
• On the sets of 'Coolie No. 1', Karisma would crack up so hard during David's slapstick scenes that they had to do multiple retakes. David never got annoyed. He said her laugh was the best feedback he could get.
