• They first shared screen space in Awaargi (1990), but the real spark came when director David Dhawan paired them in Aankhen (1993). Dhawan later said he cast them specifically because Govinda’s manic energy needed a straight man who could deadpan back — and Rawal was the only one who could do it without laughing.
• In Aankhen (1993), Govinda improvised most of his comic lines on the spot. Rawal would listen, then respond with a perfectly timed, completely straight-faced one-liner that made the crew crack up. That push-pull — Govinda setting the pace, Rawal anchoring it — became their signature.
• Bhagam Bhag (2006) was the last time they worked together, but it directly inspired a wave of comedy-caper films in Bollywood. The film’s success convinced producers that a chaotic ensemble led by a comic duo could open big — paving the way for the entire Golmaal series and Dhamaal.
• Despite making only four films together over 16 years, they never had a single reported fight or ego clash. Govinda once said in an interview that Rawal was the only co-star he never had to adjust his timing for — because Rawal adjusted to him.

• In Achanak (1998), a thriller with no comedy, their pairing flopped hard. The film proved that their magic only worked when Rawal played the reactive foil to Govinda’s chaos — take away the comedy, and the chemistry vanished.
