Storyline
A village girl agrees to marry a king based on a photo he sends. However, the man in the picture is actually the king's loyal slave, Shankar, who cannot speak. She marries the king without knowing the truth.

- The film was originally planned as a silent movie with no dialogue for Shah Rukh Khan's character.
- Rakesh Roshan shot the climax in freezing temperatures at the Nathu La pass near the India-China border.
