• Amrish Puri was the one who insisted Madhuri Dixit be cast in 'Dayavan' (1988). The producers wanted a bigger name, but Puri told them she had the fire for the role. That film was their first together.
• In 'Ram Lakhan' (1989), Puri played the villain who terrorizes Madhuri's character. On set, he would deliberately stay in character between takes — not speaking to her, just glaring. Madhuri later said it made her genuinely scared, which made her scenes more real.
