The film stars Anil Kapoor as Ranjha and Sridevi as Heer, with supporting performances from Shammi Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Pankaj Dheer, and Tinu Anand. It is based on the 1766 epic poem Heer by Punjabi poet Waris Shah, which tells the legendary love story of Heer and Ranjha. The narrative follows two lovers from feuding families who face relentless opposition from their relatives. The film features music composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal with lyrics by Anand Bakshi, including songs like 'Rab Ne Banaya' and 'Yeh Ped Hai Peepal Ka'. Despite its celebrated source material and star cast, the film was a commercial failure due to weak screenplay and poor art direction. It is available for streaming on select platforms.
