• They almost never became a pair. For Mr. India (1987), director Shekhar Kapur wanted a fresh face opposite Anil. Sridevi had to audition — something she never did — and she nailed the 'Hawa Hawai' dance on the spot to win the role.
• Anil once said Sridevi made him a better actor because she never rehearsed. She'd walk onto set cold and deliver magic in one take. That forced him to stay on his toes — he couldn't rely on multiple takes like he did with other co-stars.
• Their Lamhe (1991) created a weird ripple: it bombed in India but became a cult hit overseas. That film directly inspired the 1995 Tamil film 'Sathi Leelavathi' — Kamal Haasan remade the 'double role' concept because he loved how Sridevi played both mother and daughter.
• Off-screen, they had a running joke: every time a film flopped, Anil would call Sridevi and say, 'Chalo, next film mein hit karte hain.' They never blamed each other for a flop — not even for disasters like Heer Ranjha (1992) or Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja (1993).
• Anil Kapoor once said: 'Sridevi was the only actress who could make me nervous. I'd forget my lines just watching her. She had this thing — she'd look at you, and you'd forget you're acting.'
• In Judaai (1997), their last film together, Sridevi played two roles — and Anil played her husband. The trick they used: Sridevi would switch between characters mid-scene without cutting.
