Theri(2016)
Theri is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film directed by Atlee and produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu. The film stars Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Amy Jackson, and Baby Nainika. Vijay plays DCP Vijay Kumar, an honest police officer who fakes his death after his family is murdered by a corrupt politician. He raises his daughter in secret as a baker in Kerala. When his past catches up, he returns to Chennai for revenge. The film was loosely inspired by the 1990 Tamil film Chatriyan and the 2013 Hollywood film Homefront. It received positive reviews for its emotional father-daughter story and action sequences. Theri grossed over ₹150 crore worldwide, becoming the second highest-grossing Tamil film of 2016. It won three SIIMA Awards and three IIFA Utsavam Awards. The film was released on 14 April 2016 and is available on Amazon Prime Video.

Storyline
DCP Vijay Kumar is a fearless cop who kills a politician's son for a brutal crime. The politician kills Vijay's wife and mother in revenge. Vijay fakes his death to protect his daughter Nivi. He moves to Kerala and becomes a baker. Years later, the politician discovers they are alive. Vijay must fight back to save his daughter and get justice.
