Iru Mugan is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language science fiction action thriller film directed by Anand Shankar. The film stars Vikram in a dual role as Akilan Vinod and Love, alongside Nayanthara, Nithya Menen, Nassar, Thambi Ramaiah, and Karunakaran. The story follows a retired R&AW agent who is called back to stop a pansexual scientist who has created a dangerous adrenaline-boosting drug called Speed. The drug gives users superhuman strength for five minutes but causes heart attacks if used again too soon. The film was shot in Malaysia, Chennai, Bangkok, Ladakh, and Kashmir. Harris Jayaraj composed the music. Iru Mugan received positive reviews for Vikram's performance and was a commercial success, earning ₹95 crore at the box office. It was released on 8 September 2016.

Storyline
A retired R&AW agent, Akilan, is pulled back into action to stop a mad scientist named Love. Love has created a drug called Speed that makes people superhuman for five minutes. Akilan must find Love and destroy the drug before it is used for terror attacks. But he discovers his wife, believed dead, is alive and working for Love.
