Vaidehi Kathirunthal is a 1984 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film written and directed by R. Sundarrajan. The film stars Vijayakanth as Vellaisamy and Revathi as Vaidehi. The story follows two villagers who meet and decide to help a young couple in love escape the wrath of a violent brother. The film was developed based on six songs composed by Ilaiyaraaja before the script was written. It was a commercial success and became a breakthrough in Vijayakanth's career. The film was released on 23 October 1984, on Diwali day.

Storyline
Vellaisamy is a drifter with a tragic past. Vaidehi is a widow blamed for her husband's death. When they meet, they form an unlikely bond. They must work together to save a young couple from a cruel brother. Their mission leads to sacrifice and heartbreak.
