• Their first film together, Vaidehi Kathirunthal (1984), was a sleeper hit that no one expected to work. The director had to convince both actors to sign on — Vijayakanth was hesitant about a romantic drama, and Radha Ravi was unsure about playing a supporting role.
• In Koolikaran (1987), Vijayakanth played the hot-headed hero while Radha Ravi played the calm, calculating villain. Radha Ravi later said that Vijayakanth's raw energy on set pushed him to dial up his own performance — they fed off each other's intensity in every scene.
• Despite playing rivals in most of their films, Vijayakanth and Radha Ravi were close friends off-screen. They would often travel together to shoots in Radha Ravi's car, and Vijayakanth would insist on eating lunch with him even when the unit had separate arrangements.
