Vazhkai is a 1984 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by C. V. Rajendran. The film stars Sivaji Ganesan, Ambika, and Pandiyan in lead roles, with Jaishankar, M. N. Nambiar, and Raveendran in supporting roles. The story follows Rajasekar, a mechanic who loses his arm in an accident and is betrayed by his two biological sons. He rebuilds his life with his wife and adopted son, eventually becoming a wealthy businessman. The film is a remake of the Hindi film Avtaar (1983). Ilaiyaraaja composed the soundtrack, which includes the popular song "Kaalam Maaralam" set in the Hamsadhvani raga. Vazhkai was released on 14 April 1984 and ran for over 100 days in theatres, receiving praise for Sivaji Ganesan's performance.

Storyline

A hardworking mechanic named Rajasekar loses his arm in a workplace accident. He trusts his two sons to use his insurance money wisely, but they betray him. One son steals the money, and the other abandons him for a richer life. Rajasekar leaves home with his wife and adopted son, determined to rebuild his life from nothing.
