Thunaivi(1982)
Thunaivi is a 1982 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Valampuri Somanathan. The film stars Sivakumar and Sujatha in lead roles. The story follows Lakshmi, a devoted wife who sacrifices her jewelry and dignity to support her husband Ranganathan's business dreams. Ranganathan betrays her trust, abuses her, and eventually abandons her. Lakshmi rebuilds her life independently as a maid. The film explores themes of marital betrayal, self-respect, and female empowerment. It received a U certificate from the Madras Certification Centre and ran for a length of 3754.53 meters. The film won one award. It was released in India in 1982.

Storyline
Lakshmi believes her husband Ranganathan is a good man. She sells her wedding jewelry to fund his business. He takes the money, treats her cruelly, and throws her out when his plans fail. Alone and broken, Lakshmi must find the strength to survive without him.
