• Sivakumar and Sujatha first faced the camera together in 'Padhaboojai' (1974), but the real spark came a year later. Director A. C. Tirulokchandar cast them as a married couple in 'Aanpillai Singam' (1975) — and that film's success made producers realize this pair could sell tickets just by being on the poster together.
• In 'Annakili' (1976), Sivakumar played a mute villager. Sujatha had to carry most of the dialogue — and she did it without making the silence feel awkward. She later said in an interview that acting opposite Sivakumar's eyes was easier than acting opposite most actors' full sentences.
• Their 1976 film 'Ungalil Oruthi' was the first Tamil movie to feature a female police officer as the lead. Sujatha played the cop. Sivakumar played her husband. That film directly inspired the 1992 blockbuster 'Pandithurai' — which also had a strong female cop character, but this time played by Khushbu.
• Sivakumar and Sujatha never had a single reported fight on set across 10 films and 20 years. Their secret? Sujatha once told a magazine: 'He never raised his voice. Not once. Even when the director was yelling, Sivakumar would just look at me and smile. How do you fight with that?'
• Sujatha said in a 1995 interview: 'Sivakumar made me a better actress. He never competed with me on screen. He gave me space to breathe. That's rare in this industry.'
