Nizhalgal(1980)
Nizhalgal is a 1980 Indian Tamil-language drama film co-written and directed by Bharathiraja. It stars newcomers S. Rajasekar, Raadhu, Nizhalgal Ravi, and Chandrasekhar. The story follows three unemployed young men in Madras who struggle with poverty, love, and shattered dreams. Gopi searches for a job while falling for a college girl. Hari dreams of becoming a music composer. Prabhu, a college student, faces rejection and violence. The film is noted for its neo-realistic style and bleak tone. It received critical acclaim and was screened at the International Film Festival of India in 1981. Despite winning two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, it was a commercial failure. The film was released on 6 November 1980.
