Thunayiruppal Meenakshi(1977)
Thunayiruppal Meenakshi is a 1977 Indian Tamil-language drama film written and directed by Valampuri Somanathan. The film stars Sivakumar, Sujatha, and Vijayakumar. It is a remake of the 1951 Gemini Studios film Samsaram. The story follows a woman abandoned by her husband who raises her adopted son alone. She faces betrayal, gossip, and poverty but never gives up. The film explores themes of sacrifice, forgiveness, and a mother’s unconditional love. Ilaiyaraaja composed the soundtrack, which includes the popular song Sugamo Aayiram. The film was a major commercial success and is remembered for its emotional depth.
