Thennangeettru(1975)
'Thennangeettru' (transl. Coconut leaflet) is a 1975 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Kovi Manisekaran in his debut. The film stars Sujatha as Vasumathi, Vijayakumar as Sampath, and Kalpana as Malini. It is based on Manisekaran's novel of the same name. The story follows Vasumathi, a village wife who waits for her husband Sampath to return from war. When he comes back with severe mental trauma, she struggles to reconnect with him while facing community gossip. The film was simultaneously shot in Kannada as 'Nireekshe' with Manjula and Srinath in the lead roles. 'Thennangeettru' won the Tamil Nadu Film Fans' Association Award despite a short theatrical run of four weeks. It was released on 4 July 1975.
