• Sujatha was already a star when she agreed to do Thennangeettru (1975). But she only signed on after Muthuraman personally visited her house and narrated the full script. She later said his conviction sold her, not the role.
• On the sets of Uravu Solla Oruvan (1975), Muthuraman would deliberately flub his lines in the first take just to make Sujatha laugh. She'd then loosen up and deliver a more natural performance. The director let it happen because the final takes were gold.
• Their 1976 film Mayangukiral Oru Madhu was the first Tamil movie to have a female protagonist who openly rejects the hero's proposal and walks away — no last-minute change of heart. That ending was Sujatha's idea, and Muthuraman backed her against the producer's objections.
• During the shoot of Vazhndhu Kaattukiren (1975), Sujatha's mother passed away. Muthuraman quietly rescheduled all her scenes for two weeks and didn't tell the production team why — he just said 'she's unwell.' She found out only years later from a crew member.
• Sujatha once told a magazine: 'Muthuraman sir never treated me like a co-star. He treated me like a younger sister who needed protecting. That's why I did seven films with him in one year — I trusted him completely.'
• In Kanavan Manaivi (1976), Muthuraman insisted on shooting the emotional confrontation scene in one continuous take — no cuts. He told Sujatha to just react to whatever he did. She improvised a silent tear that became the scene's most remembered moment. The editor didn't touch a frame.
