Chitthi(1966)
"Chitthi" (1966) is a Tamil-language drama film written and directed by K. S. Gopalakrishnan. The film stars Padmini as Meenakshi and Gemini Ganesan as Muthaiya, with M. R. Radha playing the antagonist Periyasamy. The story follows Meenakshi, a domestic help who marries a wealthy widower to fund her brother's medical education, only to become a loving stepmother to his seven children. Based on the play "Dayanidhi" by Vai. Mu. Kothainayaki Ammal, the film subverts the wicked stepmother trope by portraying the stepmother as a figure of sacrifice. The music was composed by M. S. Viswanathan. The film was released on 14 January 1966 and was remade in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Storyline
Meenakshi works as a maid to support her family and dreams of making her brother Balu a doctor. When she cannot pay his fees, she marries a rich widower named Periyasamy. But Periyasamy is greedy and cruel, and Meenakshi must protect her stepchildren from him while keeping her own family alive.
