Annai(1962)
'Annai' is a 1962 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Krishnan–Panju. The film stars P. Bhanumathi and Sowcar Janaki in lead roles, with S. V. Ranga Rao, J. P. Chandrababu, and Haranath in supporting parts. The story follows Savithri, a childless woman who adopts her sister's baby and raises him as her own, only to face a legal battle when the biological mother returns years later. The film won the Certificate of Merit for Second Best Feature Film at the 10th National Film Awards. It was a commercial success, running for over 100 days in theatres. The soundtrack, composed by R. Sudarsanam with lyrics by Kannadasan, features enduring hits like 'Azhagiya Mithilai' and 'Buddhiyulla Manithan'. The film was released on 15 December 1962.

Storyline
Savithri cannot have children of her own. She adopts her sister Seetha's newborn baby and raises him as her son. Years later, Seetha returns and demands her child back. Savithri must fight in court to keep the boy she has raised with love. The case forces everyone to ask what truly makes a mother.
