• Their first film together, Annai (1962), almost didn't happen. The director, A. Kasilingam, was unsure about casting Nagesh as the lead opposite Sowcar Janaki — he thought Nagesh's comic image would clash with the serious mother-sentiment drama. Nagesh personally convinced him by promising to underplay his comedy instincts.
• In Pachai Vilakku (1964), Sowcar Janaki deliberately slowed down her dialogue delivery in emotional scenes to match Nagesh's natural rhythm. She later said she learned to 'leave space for his pauses' — that film became the template for how they balanced sentiment and humor together.
• Their 1966 film Motor Sundaram Pillai directly inspired the 1978 hit film Aval Appadithan. Director C. Rudhraiya was a fan of how Nagesh and Sowcar Janaki handled the husband-wife conflict in that film — he specifically cast them as a reference point for his own lead pair's dynamic.
• On the sets of Kan Kanda Daivam (1967), Nagesh would bring homemade snacks from his wife's kitchen and share them with Sowcar Janaki during breaks. She later recalled that he never ate alone on any of their sets — he always insisted they eat together, even if it was just a single banana.
• Sowcar Janaki once said about Nagesh: 'He could make you cry with a joke and laugh with a tear. I never had to act with him — I just had to react.' She said this in a 2005 interview with the Tamil magazine Ananda Vikatan.
