Trivia

  • The film was based on a Gujarati play called 'Bahu Ne Ghar Jodvu' by Vithal Pandya, which was also adapted into a 1978 Gujarati film.
  • This was one of the few films where actor Vijayendra Ghatge, known for playing villains, portrayed a romantic lead role.
  • The movie's comedic plot of a newlywed couple's misadventures was a signature style of director Basu Chatterjee, known for his middle-class stories.
  • Actress Zarina Wahab, who played Alka, was already an established star, having won a Filmfare Award for Best Actress for 'Gharonda' five years earlier.
  • The film's soundtrack was composed by Rajesh Roshan, featuring the popular duet 'Chandni Raat Mein' sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar.
  • Despite being a drama, the film heavily relied on situational comedy, a shift from the more serious social themes in some of Chatterjee's other works.
  • The movie was not a major box office success but found an audience through television reruns in later decades.
