→Trivia
- The film was inspired by the 1976 Kannada movie 'Katha Sangama', which was also directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee.
- Rekha's character Manju was originally offered to Moushumi Chatterjee, but she could not accept due to other commitments.
- The film's title song 'Khubsoorat' was composed by R.D. Burman but sung by his wife Asha Bhosle, not Kishore Kumar as was common for hero songs.
- It was one of the earliest films to show a female protagonist challenging traditional family authority, a theme that became more popular later.
- The movie marked the debut of child actor Jugal Hansraj, who later became a noted actor and director.
- Despite being a comedy-drama, the film subtly critiqued rigid patriarchal norms through its characters and situations.
- The film was a moderate box office success but later gained a strong cult following on television and home video.
