• Rekha was the one who pushed Rakesh Roshan to direct Khoon Bhari Maang (1988). He was hesitant to direct again after a flop. She told him she'd only do the film if he directed it. That film revived his directing career.
• On the set of Khubsoorat (1980), Rekha would deliberately mess up her lines to make Rakesh Roshan laugh. He played the straight man to her comic timing. She later said his patience helped her nail the film's tricky comedic beats.
• Their 2003 film Koi... Mil Gaya launched Hrithik Roshan as a mainstream star. Rekha played his mother. That film's success directly led to Krrish (2006) and the entire Krrish franchise. Without her saying yes to that role, there's no superhero universe.
• Rekha and Rakesh Roshan had a falling out after Daasi (1981) flopped. She felt he didn't promote the film enough. They didn't speak for seven years. Khoon Bhari Maang (1988) happened only because a mutual friend forced them into a room to talk it out.
• Rekha once said about Rakesh Roshan: 'He is the only director who could make me cry on set and laugh five minutes later. He knew exactly which button to press.'
• In Aurat Aurat Aurat (1996), Rakesh Roshan wrote a scene where Rekha had to slap him. She refused to do it for real. He insisted. She finally did it so hard he stumbled backward. The take made it to the final cut. He never asked her to slap him again.
