Trivia

  • The film's director Ramanand Sagar later became a household name for creating the iconic TV series 'Ramayan' in the late 1980s.
  • The movie's music was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal, but the soundtrack was not a major commercial hit compared to their other works from that era.
  • Actor Rajesh Khanna, who played Kishan, was at a career crossroads when this film was released, as his superstar phase had begun to wane.
  • The film is a remake of the 1977 Tamil movie 'Kavikkuyil', which also starred Rajesh Khanna in the lead role.
  • Much of the early village setting was filmed in the coastal regions of Maharashtra to depict the adivasi fishing community authentically.

  • Despite the star power of Rajesh Khanna and Reena Roy, the film did not perform exceptionally well at the box office.
