• Lalita Pawar was the one who insisted Rekha be cast in 'Prem Bandhan' (1979). The producers wanted a bigger name, but Pawar told them Rekha had the right 'fire' for the mother-daughter dynamic. She was right.
• In 'Kali Ghata' (1980), Pawar deliberately slowed down her dialogue delivery to match Rekha's rhythm. She told the director that Rekha's pauses were her strength — and that she'd ruin the scene if she rushed. The result is the film's most tense confrontation scene.
• Rekha used to call Lalita Pawar 'Mummyji' on every set. Pawar, in turn, would bring homemade snacks for Rekha during 'Ram Tere Kitne Nam' (1985) shoots because she thought Rekha wasn't eating enough. They stayed in touch until Pawar's death in 1998.
• Rekha once said in a 1986 interview: 'Lalitaji taught me that acting is not about shouting louder than the other person. She could silence a room with a whisper. I learned that from her.'
• The mother-daughter dynamic they created in 'Prem Bandhan' (1979) directly inspired the casting of Shabana Azmi and Dina Pathak in 'Mandi' (1983). Shyam Benegal told a trade magazine he wanted that same 'unspoken tension' between two strong women.
