Partnership facts

• Birbal was already a star when Master Bhagwan was still a stunt choreographer. Bhagwan convinced Birbal to star in Prem Bandhan (1979) by promising to shoot the action sequences in a single take — saving both time and money.
• On the set of Patthar Se Takkar (1980), Master Bhagwan would physically demonstrate every fight move to Birbal, then step back and let Birbal add his own comic timing. The result: action scenes that felt like comedy bits, and comedy bits that hit like action scenes.
• After Kasam Dhande Ki (1990) flopped, Birbal and Master Bhagwan had a public falling out over unpaid dues. They never spoke again. Bhagwan later said in a 1995 interview that Birbal owed him ₹50,000 for the stunt crew.
• The fight choreography in Patthar Se Takkar (1980) directly inspired the climax of the 1983 cult hit Jaani Dost — director K. Bapaiah asked his stunt team to watch Bhagwan's work and 'copy the energy'.
• Master Bhagwan once told a trade magazine: 'Birbal was the only actor who could make a slap look like a joke and a joke feel like a slap. I didn't direct him — I just pointed the camera.'
