
Kuruvi(2008)
Kuruvi is a 2008 Indian Tamil-language action comedy film written and directed by Dharani. The film stars Vijay in the lead role, alongside Trisha, Suman, Vivek, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Manivannan. It marks the Tamil debut of child actress Nivetha Thomas. The story follows Vetrivel, a car racer who travels to Malaysia to collect a debt from a crime boss, only to discover his missing father is being held as a bonded labourer. The film blends high-octane action sequences with family drama and romantic subplots. It was produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin under Red Giant Movies and features a soundtrack composed by Vidyasagar. Kuruvi received mixed reviews from critics but was a box office success, completing 150 days in theatres and performing well overseas. The film was re-released in Kerala in 2021.

Storyline
A young car racer named Vetrivel learns that a Malaysia-based crime boss owes his missing father a huge sum of money. He travels to Malaysia with his best friend to collect the debt. But the don refuses to pay, forcing Vetrivel to steal a diamond and return to India. Soon he discovers his father is alive and being held prisoner in a slave camp. Vetrivel must fight the entire crime empire to rescue his father and bring him home.
