• Vivek was already a busy comedian when Malavika was cast opposite him in 'Kandha Kadamba Kathir Vela' (2000). The director said he picked Malavika because she had the patience to match Vivek's rapid-fire dialogue delivery — something other actresses struggled with.
• In 'Perazhagan' (2004), Vivek played a blind man and Malavika played his love interest. She told an interview that she had to physically guide him through every scene without breaking character — he relied on her hand signals to know where the camera was, and she relied on his comic timing to know when to react.
• After 'Lovely' (2001) bombed hard, Malavika called Vivek in tears thinking her career was over. He reportedly told her, 'Don't worry, I'll do another film with you and we'll fix this.' That film was 'Perazhagan' — their only critically acclaimed hit together.
