Trivia

  • The film's title 'Bommalattam' refers to a traditional Tamil puppet show, symbolizing the characters being manipulated in the crime plot.
  • Director Bharathiraja, known for rural dramas, made a rare foray into a glossy, metropolitan crime thriller with this movie.
  • Actor Arya, who plays Rana, performed many of his own stunts, including a risky car chase sequence shot in Chennai.
  • The movie faced censorship delays because its plot involved murders on a film set, which was considered sensitive at the time.
  • It features a cameo by director Bharathiraja himself in a brief scene as a police officer, which many viewers missed.
  • The soundtrack by Vidyasagar included a song filmed in Turkey, an unusual foreign location for a Tamil film in 2008.
  • Despite its star cast, the film had a very limited theatrical run and quickly disappeared from cinemas.
