Partnership facts

• Vivek was a struggling comedian when Arjun handpicked him for Subash (1996). Arjun had seen Vivek's stage act and insisted the director cast him — that film gave Vivek his first real break in Tamil cinema.
• On the sets of Sudhandhiram (2000), Arjun would deliberately mess up his lines in the first take just to watch Vivek improvise a comeback. Vivek's timing forced Arjun to sharpen his own comic delivery — they basically trained each other on the spot.
• Arjun and Vivek stayed close even after their films stopped. When Vivek suffered a stroke in 2021, Arjun was one of the first actors to visit him in the hospital and quietly covered part of his medical bills — no press release, no photos.
• The success of their comedy track in Durai (2008) directly inspired director A. Venkatesh to write a full-length comedy film for the pair — but the project never materialized. That unmade film is still talked about in Kollywood circles as a missed classic.
• Arjun once said in an interview: 'Vivek doesn't just make you laugh — he makes you a better actor. I had to work twice as hard to keep up with him in Durai.'
