Trivia

  • The film's title 'Veerappu' was initially announced as 'Puli' during production, referencing the protagonist's name.
  • Director Badri had previously worked as an assistant director for films like 'Kaakha Kaakha' before making his directorial debut.
  • Actress Padmapriya, who played the step-sister, was primarily known for Malayalam films at the time and this was one of her early Tamil roles.
  • The movie's soundtrack was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, but it did not achieve the same commercial success as his other 2007 scores.
  • A subplot involving the protagonist's skill in physics was a unique character detail not commonly seen in Tamil action dramas of that era.
  • The film faced competition at the box office from bigger releases like 'Billa' starring Ajith Kumar, which affected its theatrical run.
  • Prakash Raj's role as a strict math teacher contrasted with his more famous villainous or comedic characters in other Tamil films.
