• Vivek was the one who pushed Santhanam to take up acting full-time. Before Veerappu (2007), Santhanam was a TV anchor. Vivek saw his timing on a comedy show and told the director to cast him. That film became Santhanam's first proper movie role.
• In Margam (2015), Vivek played the straight man to Santhanam's hyper-reactive character. Santhanam once said in an interview that Vivek would deliberately pause mid-dialogue to let him jump in with an ad-lib. That rhythm — Vivek setting the beat, Santhanam filling the gaps — is why their scenes feel like a tennis rally.
• They never hung out outside sets. Santhanam has said they were 'work friends' — they'd crack up during rehearsals but go home separately. No joint interviews, no social media posts. Their entire friendship lived inside those three films.
• Santhanam told a Tamil YouTube channel in 2018: 'Vivek sir taught me that comedy is not about making people laugh — it's about making them forget they're watching a film.' He said this while recalling a scene in Veerappu where Vivek silently reacted to his dialogue for 10 seconds. That pause made the whole theatre roar.
• Sakka Podu Podu Raja (2017) was the last film they did together. After that, Santhanam stopped doing supporting comedy roles and became a lead hero. Vivek's passing in 2021 meant they never got to reunite. No other actor has since replicated that specific 'senior-junior comic duo' dynamic in Tamil cinema.
