Malaikottai is a 2007 Tamil-language action film written and directed by Boopathy Pandian. The film stars Vishal as Anbu, Priyamani as Malar, Devaraj as Palani, Ajay as Guna, Ashish Vidyarthi as Inspector Kandasamy, and Urvashi as Kamala. The story follows Anbu, a carefree engineering student who gets into a fight with a local politician and is forced to report daily to a police station in Trichy. There, he falls in love with Malar and must protect her from the ruthless politician Palani. The film blends action, comedy, and romance, and was a commercial success. It is notable for helping Priyamani transition from rural roles to glamorous ones, making her a commercially viable heroine in Tamil cinema. Storyline
Anbu is a happy engineering student whose life turns upside down after a fight with a local politician. The court gives him conditional bail, forcing him to sign a register every day at a police station in Trichy. There, he falls in love with Malar, but a powerful villain named Palani wants her for himself. Anbu must protect Malar and his family from Palani's violence.
