Trivia
- The film's title 'Thalaimagan' translates to 'First Son' in English, but the story focuses on a journalist, not a family's eldest son.
- Director R. Sarathkumar also played the lead role, which was common for his films during that period.
- Actress Seema Biswas, known for her Hindi film roles, played a rare negative character as a corrupt police chief.
- The plot about a bottled water plant causing water scarcity was inspired by real environmental concerns in Tamil Nadu.
- This was one of the few Tamil films where the hero's profession was an investigative journalist, not a usual action role.
- The movie faced some delays in release due to production issues, though it wasn't a major box office hit.
- A subplot involving the journalist's family was trimmed in the final cut to keep the focus on the main conflict.
