• Nayantara was just 20 and fresh off her debut when she was cast opposite Vadivelu in Chandramukhi (2005). The director P. Vasu specifically wanted a young, expressive face to play the mute servant girl — and Vadivelu, playing the comic sidekick, had to carry most of their scenes without her speaking a word.
• In Chandramukhi, Vadivelu’s character Murugesan does all the talking while Nayantara’s Ganga stays silent. He set the rhythm of every scene — his frantic, high-energy comedy gave her space to react with just her eyes. That silent dynamic became the film’s most replayed comedy track.
• Their pairing in Chandramukhi directly inspired the 2007 hit 'Mozhi' — where a hearing-impaired lead (Jyothika) communicates through expressions while a talkative hero (Prithviraj) does the verbal heavy lifting. The template was set by Nayantara and Vadivelu two years earlier.
• On the sets of Thalaimagan (2006), Vadivelu would quietly coach Nayantara on Tamil diction between shots. She was still learning the language, and he’d correct her line readings without making a fuss — no one else on set even noticed.
• Nayantara once said in a 2009 interview: 'Vadivelu sir made me laugh so hard during Villu that I couldn't keep a straight face. He'd whisper something funny right before the camera rolled, and I'd have to bite my cheek to not break character.'
• In Aadhavan (2009), Vadivelu played a bumbling thief opposite Nayantara’s sharp-tongued doctor. For the first time, she got to talk back — and their banter was pure improv. He’d throw a punchline, she’d fire back with a deadpan retort, and the director just let the camera roll.
