Trivia
- The film's title '7G Rainbow Colony' refers to a real housing colony in Chennai where director Selvaraghavan once lived.
- Sonia Agarwal, who played Anitha, learned Tamil specifically for this role and delivered all her lines in the language.
- The film's climax was shot in a single, continuous 11-minute take, a rare technical feat in Tamil cinema at the time.
- Composer Yuvan Shankar Raja recorded the song 'Kadhal Valarthen' in a single sitting, late at night, to capture a raw feel.
- The movie was a major commercial success, running for over 100 days in many theaters despite its intense and tragic storyline.
- Director Selvaraghavan based the character of Kathir's mannerisms and outbursts on observations of people in his own neighborhood.
- A scene where Kathir smashes a TV was improvised by actor Ravi Krishna, surprising both the crew and his co-star Sonia Agarwal.
