Trivia
- The film was originally titled 'Punnagai Poove' but was later released as 'Punnagai Poove' without changes, keeping its poetic name meaning 'smile flower'.
- Director Saba Kailash is the daughter of veteran Tamil director Kailash, making this a rare father-daughter directorial lineage in the industry.
- The movie features a cameo by popular comedian Vadivelu in a brief comedy track, which was a highlight in promotions despite his limited screen time.
- Actress Meera Jasmine, who played Nithya, was already a rising star in Malayalam cinema, and this was one of her early Tamil lead roles.
- The film's soundtrack was composed by Deva, known for his peppy numbers, but the album had a softer romantic feel compared to his usual style.
- Parts of the movie were shot in Chennai's Binny Mills compound, which was a common filming location for many early 2000s Tamil films.
- Despite being a romance drama, the film included a subplot involving a kidnapping, blending mild thriller elements into the storyline.
