Partnership facts

• Kaveri was a last-minute replacement in Vaigasi Poranthachu (1990). The original heroine walked out, and director Manivannan called Kaveri in. Charlie was already cast. That film became her debut and launched both their on-screen pairing.
• In Kannukkul Nilavu (2000), Charlie’s character was a loud, impulsive auto driver. Kaveri played the calm, grounded love interest. She deliberately slowed down her dialogue delivery to make his frantic energy pop. That contrast is why the comedy worked.
• Charlie and Kaveri were close friends off-screen. During the shoot of Kasi (2001), Charlie would bring homemade snacks to set for her every day. She later said in an interview that he treated her like a younger sister, not just a co-star.
• Kaveri once said about Charlie: 'He never made me feel like a newcomer. On the set of Vaigasi Poranthachu, he would rehearse scenes with me until 2 AM, even when he was exhausted.'
• Their film Punnagai Poove (2003) was the first Tamil movie to feature a karaoke-style song sequence where the characters sing along to a pre-recorded track. That gimmick was later copied by at least three other Tamil rom-coms in the next two years.
