Sangamam(1999)
Sangamam is a 1999 Indian Tamil-language romantic musical dance film co-written and directed by Suresh Krissna. It stars Rahman as Selvam, a folk dancer, and Vindhya as Abhirami, a classical Bharatanatyam dancer. The supporting cast includes Manivannan, Vijayakumar, Radha Ravi, and Vadivelu. The plot centers on the clash between Carnatic classical music and rural Tamil folk music, with the love story of two dancers from opposing traditions. The film's music was composed by A. R. Rahman, with lyrics by Vairamuthu. It won the National Film Award for Best Lyrics and four Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. Storyline
