Love Today is a 1997 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film directed by Balasekaran in his directorial debut. The film stars Vijay and Suvalakshmi in lead roles, with Manthra, Raghuvaran, Karan, and Sriman in supporting parts. The story follows Ganesh, a college graduate who becomes obsessively infatuated with Sandhya, a focused student who wants nothing to do with love. Her strict police inspector father suspects an affair and reacts violently, forcing the couple apart. The film was shot primarily in Vishakhapatnam with minor portions in Chennai. It received positive reviews and became a commercial success, running for over 175 days in theatres. The soundtrack was composed by newcomer Shiva and featured lyrics by Vairamuthu. The film was remade in Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.
