Poomani is a 1996 Indian Tamil-language drama film written and directed by M. Kalanjiyam in his directorial debut. The film stars Murali, Devayani, Prakash Raj, and Reshma in lead roles. The story follows Poomani, a kind-hearted man who marries his brother's abandoned bride to save her from social shame. Set in a rural Tamil village, the narrative explores themes of sacrifice, family honor, and the slow growth of love. The film won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Story Writer. It was produced by G. V. Anandan and released in 1996.

Storyline
When Thangamani flees on his wedding day, his younger brother Poomani marries the abandoned bride Vijaya. Vijaya resents Poomani and refuses to accept him. As Poomani patiently tries to win her trust, Thangamani returns and plots to destroy their relationship.
