The film is a remake of the 1986 Malayalam film 'Nandi Veendum Varika' and was written by M. Karunanidhi. It features a soundtrack composed by Ilaiyaraaja, with lyrics by Karunanidhi and Ilaya Bharathi. The film was released on 14 January 1990 and received positive reviews for its performances and emotional depth.
