Kathanayakudu is a 2008 Indian Telugu-language drama film directed by P. Vasu. It stars Rajinikanth in an extended guest appearance, with Jagapati Babu and Meena in lead roles. The film is a remake of the Malayalam film Kadha Parayumbol. It follows Balu, a poor village barber, who was childhood friends with superstar Ashok Kumar. When Ashok returns to the village for a film shoot, Balu fears his friend has forgotten him. The film explores themes of friendship, class, and sacrifice. It received mixed to positive reviews, with critics praising the emotional climax and performances. The film was simultaneously shot in Tamil as Kuselan. It released on 1 August 2008.

Storyline
