
Gayam(2006)
Gaayam is a 1993 Indian Telugu-language political crime thriller film directed by Ram Gopal Varma and co-written by Mani Ratnam. The cast includes Jagapathi Babu, Revathi, Urmila Matondkar, Kota Srinivasa Rao, and Sivakrishna. The story follows Durga, a man who takes over his brother's gang after his murder, leading to a violent power struggle with the politician Gurunarayana. The film is based on the 1980s Vijayawada gang warfare and draws inspiration from The Godfather. It won six Nandi Awards, including Best Supporting Actress for Urmila Matondkar and Best Villain for Kota Srinivasa Rao. The film was commercially successful and established Jagapathi Babu as a popular actor. It was later dubbed into Tamil as Desam.

Storyline
Durga promises his love Anitha to stay away from violence. But when his brother is killed by a corrupt politician, he takes revenge and becomes a gangster. Anitha leaves him. Now Durga must fight for power while trying to win back her trust.
